  • The Caring Center Holiday Dinner Baskets - Would you like to "help" warm someone's heart and home for the holidays? Each holiday The Caring Center provides a complete holiday dinner for families in need. You can help by providing a grocery bag filled with some or all of these food items.
  • Boone County resident and Carmel Teacher, Chris Hedge was onboard USCGC Healy on her 7-week trip with the NOAA to map the Arctic Continental Shelf. Learn more about her trip.
  • Early Readers Club - United Way of Boone County has launched the Early Readers Club to promote childhood literacy. By registering today, your preschool child or grandchild can receive 12 high-quality books a year for just $20. Scholarships are available. Please go to www.uwci.org/erc to start your child on a lifelong journey of learning.
  • Zionsville Transition Committee - Eagle Township/Union Township/Zionsville Reorganization Committee information.
  • GED Classes are held at ARC Rehab in Lebanon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration/Intake is required to attend classes and is held on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. For additional information visit the Boone County Learning Network website and look under GED Information.
  • Shalom Free Lunch - Every Saturday for everyone from 11am-1pm at Shalom House (304 W. Green Street, Lebanon). Everyone welcome!

* Through Saturday, November 21, 2009 - 2009 Movie Club at Lebanon Public Library (104 E. Washington St. Lebanon, IN 46052). Come join the 2009 Movie Club at the Lebanon Public Library and get rewarded for watching movies! You must be at least 18 to participate. Simply come in to the A/V department, sign up, keep track of the movies you watch from the Lebanon Public Library or the Pavilion, and win prizes! Prizes: Portable DVD Player, Parky's & Pavilion, Penn Station & Pavilion, movies, popcorn, food coupons and more! Special thanks go out to Kramer Lumber, Parky's Smokehouse, Penn Station, Eddie's Pizza of Thorntown, ALDI, and the Pavilion for generously donating prizes & supplies.

* Through Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - Our Heroes' Tree at Lebanon Public Library (104 E. Washington St. Lebanon, IN 46052). In conjunction with the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University, the library is proud to present Our Heroes' Tree. Through this program, MFRI and Lebanon Public Library are working to honor past and present service members and create an awareness of military families currently affected by deployment. To participate in Our Heroes' Tree, simply create a handmade ornament honoring the service member from past and present wars, conflicts or peacetime operations. Bring the ornament to the Lebanon Public Library's Ralph Stark Heritage Center through November 24 where it will be placed on the tree with other commemorative ornaments. Stories about individual service members can also be submitted and displayed in a binder near the tree. In November, two of the ornaments from each library will be a part of the Indiana State Heroes' Tree that will be unveiled at the Indiana State Library and the Indiana State Virtual Heroes' Tree will launch for viewing on the web at www.cfs.purdue.edu/mfri/VirtualTree.

* Through Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - Our Heroes' Tree at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). In conjunction with the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University, the library is proud to present Our Heroes' Tree. Area families are invited to join in this national initiative to recognize and honor the sacrifices of current service members, veterans, and deceased service members. The library will display a Heroes Tree in Youth Services where individuals of all ages may hang handmade ornaments designed to honor a service member of their choice. Participants may pick up ornament ideas and templates at the library’s reference desks. The tree will remain on display throughout the holiday season. In November, two of the ornaments from each library will be a part of the Indiana State Heroes' Tree that will be unveiled at the Indiana State Library and the Indiana State Virtual Heroes' Tree will launch for viewing on the web at www.cfs.purdue.edu/mfri/VirtualTree.

* Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - Computer Class: Intro to the Internet from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). A 1-session, 3-hour computer class at a cost of $25.50. Register online at www.zionsville.lib.in.us or by calling the library at 317-873-3149.

* Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - Friends of the Library Meeting at 10 am at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Interested adults are invited to attend. Membership is not required, although new members are welcome. Preregistration is not required.

* Friday, November 20, 2009 - Animal Adventure Series: Snakes from 1 - 2 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Naturalists from the Zion Nature Center will join librarians as they share their knowledge about local animals through read-aloud stories, rhymes, activities and a real animal meet-and-greet. Children 3 - 6, accompanied by a parent, will meet at the library for storytime fun, then walk to the Nature Center to meet and learn about real animals. Please dress appropriately for the weather. * Friday, November 20, 2009 - Free Movie Night at 6 pm at Lebanon Public Library (104 E. Washington St. Lebanon, IN 46052). Watch a funny animated movie that is great for the whole family— Disney/Pixar’s UP. You must be at least 18 or have a parent/guardian with you to attend. Popcorn & drinks will be provided! * Sunday, December 6, 2009 - Congregation Sharrey Tefilla 4th Annual Holiday Bazaar from 11am to 3pm at Congregation Shaarey Tefilla (3085 West 116th St., Carmel, IN 46032). This fun-filled event is open to the public and admission is free! Don't miss the local talents of 30+ area crafters and your favorite vendors! Come and see the variety of items such as Jewelry, gift, soaps and unique crafts. Events for the day include: 11 am - Mad Science science spectacular; 11:30 am - JCC Dance class performance; 12 pm - Indyhooper's hoop dancing; 12:30 pm - Rulon Strength family strength show; 1 pm - Master Mike demonstration of the Korean Martial Art, Tae Kwon Do; 1:30 pm - Simply Yoga LLC; 2:30 pm - Juggle Fun Stick juggling demonstrations and lessons; All day - JCC sponsored free face painting. Sweet treats by The Sugar Pixie Bakery and get your photo taken with Event Photos Inc. Printing while you wait. Donations are being accepted to Ovar'coming Together, Indiana's ovarian cancer education and support resource agency.

* Monday, December 14, 2009 - Community Corrections Advisory Board Meeting at noon at the Boone County Community Corrections office at 127 W. Main St., Suite 200 in Lebanon. For more information, please contact at 765-482-6505.

* Thursday, February 11, 2010 - Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) of Boone County fund-raising dinner and silent auction at Zionsville Fellowship (more info to follow).

* Saturday, February 20, 2010 - Zionsville Fire Department Firefighter's Ball & Awards Banquet at the Palomino Ballroom. Cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres at 6 pm; dinner at 7 pm; awards at 8 pm and dancing to follow. Limited to 300 tickets this year! Tickets are $40 each/$80 per couple. Semi-formal attire. Purchase tickets at the Zionsville Fire Department Headquarters office located at Town Hall 1100 W. Oak Street, Zionsville from 8-4 Mon-Fri.

* Saturday, February 27, 2010 - The Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc. (YETI) Seventh Annual Silent Auction and Dinner (more info to follow).
