President's Message

Welcome to the Zonta Club of Lebanon website. We are a chartered club of Zonta International, whose mission is to provide service at the global and local level and to promote the status of women through service and advocacy.

The Zonta Club of Lebanon has a rich history. Established in 1956, we have celebrated over 50 years of service in Boone County, the nation and the world. Our local projects are to provide resources to victims of domestic violence including donations to the Women's Shelter, and to raise awareness in the community, provide school supplies, underwear, socks, hats and gloves to children, and provide magazines to the hospital in the women's areas. We have sponsored the Z-Club at the Lebanon High School, our longest running service project for over 25 years. We use fundraiser monies to provide scholarships to a senior at both Lebanon High School and Western Boone High School and an adult woman over the age of 25 who is either resuming studies or beginning collegiate studies. The club also financially supports the Zonta International service projects.

Our main fundraiser is a cash raffle with the drawing held in November. We also raise monies by providing a Chili booth at the Lebanon Lincoln Celebration and Civil War Reenactment held in early October and by selling poinsettias in December. In March, we recognize women in the community at our "Rose Awards" celebration. These women we recognize have gone above and beyond the call to contribute to the well being of the community and others. We also recognize a Business Woman of the Year at Lebanon's annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner.

We are members of Area 4, District 6 and the International Community. Our area, district and international meet at scheduled events to keep current all members of the organization. The biennial International Convention will be held in Torino, Italy in 2012 with the 2010 convention in San Antonio, Texas. The district conferences are held on the year following the international convention. Area workshops are held in the spring every year.

The Zonta Club of Lebanon meets the first Wednesday of every month excluding July, usually at the REMC building on Indianapolis Avenue in Lebanon. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact us to obtain additional details. We are always looking for women willing to work and contribute to the advancement of women worldwide.
