The Zonta Club of Lebanon will again this year recognize the achievement of a business or professional woman in the community. Each year Zonta presents the "Business Woman of the Year" Award at the annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner.
The "Business Woman of the Year" Award is designed to give public recognition to a Boone County woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the community through her business or profession. To be nominated for this award a woman must live and work in Boone County. She does not have to be a member of Zonta.
The Zonta Club of Lebanon has been active in the community since 1956 and is the local affiliate of Zonta International, a service organization of executive women in business and the professions. Known as leaders in their respective communities, Zontians pledge to conduct projects which meet significant civic, educational and social welfare needs in the community. This international organization by study and action works to improve the legal, political, economic and professional status of women and to work for the advancement of understanding, good will and peace through a world-wide fellowship of executive women united in the Zonta ideal of service.
The Lebanon Zonta Club has developed local scholarship programs and service projects beneficial to all ages. Zonta locally sponsors a service organization for high school girls, awards annual scholarships, and provides financial support to non-profit volunteer agencies and organizations in Boone County.
Community businesses, organizations, professional firms and area residents are encouraged to submit nominations for this award. Upon request a nomination form will be mailed to the business woman's sponsor for completion by October 10.
