2002 Minor Baseball Local Rules
The Zionsville Little League rules objective is to make our program mirror Little League Inc. as close as possible. ZLL will follow the 2002 Official Regulations and Playing rules with the exception of the following ZLL local rules.
MINOR LEAGUE BOYS (7 & 8)
- COACH PITCH - For 2002 this league will utilize a coach pitch procedure with the following rules. A maximum of 7 pitches per batter with the 7th pitch must be a fair-batted ball or a swinging strike. There will be no walks or hit batsmen in this league.
- Each game will have a (2) hour time limit with no inning to start after 1:50 minutes.
- All eligible players are to be in the batting order.
- All teams may field 10 defensive players (4 outfielders and a pitchers helper). The fourth outfielder will not be allowed to take an infield position.
- Runner advancement will be stopped after the ball is secured in the infield in front of the runners. (not a pitchers helper rule this year) Any trailing runner if not halfway must return to the prior base. Coaches will be responsible to enforce this rule with any parent coaches. THIS IS AN INSTRUCTUAL LEAGUE WINNING IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT OBJECTIVE!
- 5-run rule limit per inning.
- Catchers will be used and limited to 3 Innings a game.
- Adult Base coaches are to be used at both 1st and 3rd.
- Defensive Coaches will be allowed in the outfield, (2) and one coach behind the catcher.
- Coaches may pitch from the front of the mound.
- Coaches may pitch from a standing or kneeling position.
- All coaches are encouraged to move defensive players during each game.
- Infield Fly Rule will not be enforced at this age.
