Thorntown Keewasakee Trail (TKT) is now usable! The railings over Market Street and over Sugar Creek are in place. The trail is for walking and biking only. The surface is the original stone rail bed not asphalt. It is a lovely walk of about 1 mile.
A Trail Head has been established at the corner of E Church and N Pearl St. Eventually the Trail will go south also as far as Serum Plant Road. It is the property of the Thorntown Park Department. A sign, railings and four blue spruce mark the beginning of the north leg of the Trail. More landscaping will be done in the spring. Local groups will be encouraged to take a section to beautify and maintain. It is the plan to add a picnic table at each end and some benches.
There will be a formal opening in the spring and fund raising opportunities, but for now it is USABLE and citizens are encouraged to get their exercise walking on it.
