- Youth as Resources Grant Workshop from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth Street, Zionsville). Youth as Resources of Central Indiana is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds for volunteer service projects designed and carried out by youth to serve their community. Grant application forms will only be distributed at Youth as Resources grant workshops. Youth and adult representatives from the applying group must attend one of the three grant workshop sessions. The Fall deadline is Friday, October 17, 2008.

- Lebanon/Western Boone Girl Scout Registration Event from 10 am to 2 pm at the Lebanon Memorial Park Small Shelter House. One of our favorite Girl Scouts, Clips the Clown, will be our special guest! Girls who attend will receive a free animal balloon, face painting and a treat. This event is for any girl not already registered with a troop. - Back to the Fifties Festival on the Courthouse Square in Lebanon. Activities from 6 to 10 pm on Friday and 9 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday. On Friday, there will be a street dance with music trivia, hula hoop, twist contests during dance breaks, and an art show (with check in from 6-8 pm) in the courthouse rotunda. In addition, there will be a children's fun park , and a classic car cruise-in on the east side of the courthouse square. Food will provided by philanthropic organizations. On Saturday, there will be a classic car Show, arts and craft booths, special 50's t-Shirts, a Main Street food court, a children's fun park, Lebanon Library book sale, Dream Dream Dream A Musical Tribute to the Everly Brothers, The Rigby's Beatle's Tribute Show, Banana Split Contest by Dairy Queen, 5K Rock & Roll Run & Walk Sponsored by Symphony At Sunset Group, art and photography show and sale, and the Roy E. Reynolds - "The Tribute To Elvis Presley", plus much more! There will be shuttle service from Memorial Park to the downtown area on Saturday only.

The premise of the play is a wacky Texas wedding that is full of non-stop laughs. It centers around the Futrelle sisters and the wedding of one of the sisters’ daughters, who may or may not show up for the wedding. Performances on Friday and Saturday, September 12 & 13 (and Friday and Saturday, September 19 & 20) are at 8pm and the performance on Sunday, September 14, is at 2:30pm. - Boone County Historical Society Porch Sale from 8 am to 1 pm at the Cragun House (during the Back to the Fifites Festival). Bring and donate gently used items for the sale. Items to be sold: LHS Cedars, old photographs, old newspapers, Christmas decorations, Boone Magazines, and many other items. - Lebanon Elks #635 Soccer Shoot from 9 am to 12:30 pm at the Abner Longley park. There are four divisions for boys and girls (ages as of August 1): ages 7 & under, ages 8 & 9, ages 10 & 11, ages 12 & 13. Registration takes place on site FREE of any charge. Trophies will be awarded and winners will advance to the State competition which will be held here in Lebanon Saturday , October 11 2008.

- Third Annual Rob Voils Memorial Car & Bike Show at at Granville Wells Elementary School (located conveniently off of I-74 at 5046 S. St. Rd. 75, Jamestown, IN 46147). This year, partial proceeds from the event will go to the Granville Wells Elementary School. The event is held every year not only to appreciate the community we live in but also to remember a dear friend, family member, and former neighbor - Rob Voils. All entrants should pull around into the back lot. There will signs directing traffic on the day of the show. There is a $8 fee for anyone who would like to pre-register and a $10 day of show registration fee. Dash plaques will be available to the first 30 cars and awards will be given for Top Ten, Best of Show, Best Bike, and The Rob Award. This is a judged show. - Vocalist Heidi Schmidt, accompanied by Kurt von Schakel, will perform at Christ Church, the Lutheran Church of Zionsville (600 N. Ford Road in Zionsville). Join is for an evening of inspiring songs on Sunday, September 21 at 7pm. The performance will include a variety of muscial genres including grand opera, Broadway tunes, sprituals, art song and rock. Schmidt has her undergraduate degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and her Masters from Julliard School in New York. She has sung professionally in the US and Europe, studied for a year as a Rotary International Scholar at the Mozarteium in Milano, Italy, and was on the teaching faculty at IUPUI Deparment of Music. Please join the Purdue Club of Boone County for an afternoon of polo, silent auction, tailgating, and concessions with a surprise show at half-time. $10/person (no more than $20/car).
