- Flu Shots from 3 - 6 pm in the Olive Hoffman and Lora Hussey Rooms at Hussey Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville (250 North Fifth Street, Zionsville Indiana, 46077). The Visiting Nurse Service will offer flu and pneumonia shots at a cost of: Flu Shot - $25, and Pneumonia shot - $45. Individuals presenting their Medicare-Part B card will receive shots at no charge. Preregistration is not required. This is a first-come-first-served event.

- AdvantAge Expo, Senior Health and Wellness Fair from 9 am to 3 pm at the Witham Health Services 4-H Pavilion in Lebanon. The event is FREE for all attendees! Boone County seniors, their caregivers and family members are encouraged to attend. More than 50 vendors will be in attendance, Health Screenings, Wellness and Lifestyle Lectures, Flu Shots, Door Prizes, Golf Dome, Honor Flight, Goodie Bags, Food and more! Hosted by Boone County Senior Services, Carpenter Realtors, Witham Health Services and the Lebanon Reporter. - 1st Annual Taste of Boone County event from 6-9pm at the Anson/Duke development. Sample signature entrees and special creations from Boone County's most popular, locally owned restaurants and food providers - under a spacious event tent with live music from a Chicago jazz band. Beverages will also be available at this adults only event. The Taste of Boone County is being funded by the Boone County Convention & Visitors Bureau with proceeds going to the Boone County 4H Fairgrounds Building Fund. - Boone County CROP Hunger Walk from 2-4pm. Walk begins at First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon. Boone County churches are joining together for the CROP Hunger Walk to raise awareness and funds for hunger programs in our area and around the world. 25% of donations raised will be distributed to the Caring Center to be used locally. The remainder of the funds support Church World Service to aid in poverty relief and education programs around the US and the world. CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. - Auditions for the 2008 Missoula Children's Theater at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School at 4:15 pm. Rehearsals will be October 7-10 at at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School at 4:15 pm and two performances on Saturday, October 11th at Lebanon High School. This year's production will be Alice in Wonderland! - Dining with Diabetes from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Witham Memorial Hospital VIP Dining room. Dining with Diabetes is open to anyone with diabetes and/or those at high risk for developing diabetes and their family members or caretakers. Classes will include demonstrations on how to prepare meals that are healthy and use less fat, salt and sugar without cutting taste. There will be an opportunity to taste a variety of main dishes, side dishes and desserts. Dining with Diabetes is a four part educational program with a 2 month follow up program. Participants are asked to attend all sessions. Program fee for the educational series is $25 per person or $ 40 per diabetic and family member or caregiver (includes one notebook). - Purdue Club of Boone County Fall Meeting at Ulen Country Club in Lebanon, IN. A buffet dinner will begin at 6:30pm and drinks and BOILER fellowship begin at 6pm. Nancy Cross, PURDUE’s senior associate athletic director, will speak about PURDUE athletics and compliance issues. Cost of meal is $22 per person. - 5k Hawk Walk: First Steps for Recovery at the Carmel Civic Square Gazebo(1 block west of Westfield Drive, 3 blocks north of Carmel Drive). 9 am registration, 10 am walk begins. $15 registration. Proceeds benefit The 24 Group, a non-profit, public foundation that exists to provide support and advocacy for those touched by the disease of addiction in adolescents and young adults. The 24 Group provides education and treatment grants to central Indiana treatment centers for those with inadequate insurance. - Eagle Creek Park's 1st Annual Fall Festival from 10am-6pm at the Eagle Creek Park Marina. Cost os free with regular park admission ($5 per vehicle). Various activities will take place throughout the day: Fall Festival Soccer Clinic from 10:30-11:30am, live entertainment and music will take place from 12-5pm on the Marina Stage, and boat rentals, tours of the boathouse, canoe tours, rowing lessons, and go and row opportunities will be available for guests as well. The kid's area will contain carnival games, prizes, goodies, and inflatable play houses for youngsters to enjoy. The IMPD will be on site to sign up children for their ID program. The Earth Discovery Center (EDC) will have an assortment of activities and EDC programs for families to enjoy as well. Tour the facility, be a scientist in the wet and dry labs, meet program animals, go on a family scavenger hunt, or take a bird watching hike through the park! At the Peace Learning Center, listen to music and various program talks, as well as, take family yoga! Experience more of the park with a hayride tour! From 10am-4pm families can jump on and take a ride around the east corridor of the park - $2 for adults (17 & up), $1 for youth (4-17), free for children (3 & under).

Bring your radiant, humble, terrific and/or giant pumpkin. Come display your creativity and gardening success at our second annual Pumpkin Pageant. The carved or decorated pumpkins will parade down the runway for all to see. We will also crown the 2008 Giant Pumpkin King/Queen this evening. If you live in Zionsville or received pumpkin seeds at a library program, you may enter the homegrown contest for the Giant Pumpkin. A pumpkin dessert will be served following the pageant. - Transport For Christ will present a free concert by the band Crosswalk at the Boone County 4-H Pavilion, 1300 E. 100 S. in Lebanon. Doors will open at 7:30 pm, and concert will start at 8 pm. Crosswalk performs gospel, Americana and country music. An offering will be taken to benefit Transport For Christ's Mobile Chapel, a ministry to the trucking industry, which is located at the TA truck stop in Whitestown.
