- Autism/Asperger’s Family Support Group - meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm at Centenary Methodist Church (910 Fordice Road, Lebanon). - Community Farmers' Market every Saturday Morning (indoors during the winter) at the Thorntown Heritage Museum (124 West Main Street, Thorntown) from 8:30-Noon. Open All Year - free admission. Featuring seasonal produce, baked goods, free-range meats, poultry, and fiber from farms in the area, and traditional arts and crafts of local artisans. - Boone County Historical Society meeting at 7pm. The program will be presented by Jean Trulock and her sister Alma McFadden on restoring, appraising and identifying dolls. Anyone who has a doll that needs to be appraised or identified are welcome to bring the doll with them to the meeting. - The annual Lebanon Life Chain from 2-3 pm on North Lebanon Street parallel with the Courthouse. The Lebanon Life Chain is sponsored by the Boone County Ministerial Association. The Life Chain is a declaration of love for the unborn. Participants of all faiths will hold posters and pray for the hour. The theme for the poster this year is, "My mommy choose life." Small prizes will be given for different age groups.

- Missoula Children's Theater Auditions for The Little Mermaid at 4 pm at Hattie B. Stokes Cafeteria. Open to all children K-8 in Boone County. There is a $25 fee per child to participate if cast. (A few scholarships will be available.) A rehearsal schedule will be given out immediately following the audition, and the first rehearsal begins immediately. If selected you must be available to participate in rehearsals on October 9th-12th at 4-8:30 pm at Hattie B. Stokes and all day on Saturday, October 13, for dress rehearsals. There will be two performances on Saturday, October 13th at 3 pm and 7 pm at Lebanon High School Auditorium. - Genealogy for Kids at 11 am in the The Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library. Jamey Hickson, Department Head - Genealogy/Local History will host a story time for children who want to learn about their family tree. Free posters! Freeregistration is not required. Part of the Lebanon Public Library's celebration of National Family History Month.
- Family Fun Day at Hope Community Church (665 W 375 N, Lebanon). There will be many free kid games, pumpkin patch, pony rides, relays, moon bounce, LibbyLou dress-up booth, food booths and much more. Outdoor activities begin at 2 pm with a concert at 6 pm featuring Heritage Road Band and our own Hope Community Church men's trio.

- Parent Education and Advisory Council of Zionsville (PEACZ) meeting at 7pm at the Zionsville Boys and Girls Club. The program will be the Academy Award winning film, Educating Peter, a 30 minute documentary demonstrating an inclusive classroom with a Downs child for the school year. It provides a wonderful vision of an inclusive classroom, illustrating teaching, parenting and student responses. - Boone County Child Development Academy Fall Carnival (1005 South Meridian St., Lebanon, IN 46052). Dinner is from 5:30-7:30pm, and the carnival is from 6:30-9pm. The menu will consist of chicken noodles, mashed potatos, green beans, roll, pie, and a drink. Games: cake walk, ring toss, balloon darts, spiders web, and much more! The cost for dinner is $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger, and family of 4 or more is $15. Carnival tickets are .25 each or 5 for $1. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!

- The Indiana Bluebird Society is hosting its Eleventh Annual Conference at Cool Creek Nature Center located in Carmel, Indiana from 9:30 am-3:30 pm local time. Speakers will cover the topics of Bluebirds, Bats, Owls and Warblers. Other activities include an auction which will benefit the Indiana Bluebird Society, a carry in lunch, and much good fellowship and discussion about bluebirds. This a FREE Conference. We urge everyone to come and spend the day with us. Contact the Indiana Bluebird Society for more information about the conference. Walk-ins will be welcome! Those who can are encouraged to bring and dish and an item for the silent auction.
- 4-H Round-Up with Karen Everett from 10am noon in the The Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library. Karen will explain how your genealogy can be a 4-H project. Free and registration is not required. Part of the Lebanon Public Library's celebration of National Family History Month.
- Safe Sitter Class sponsored by the Boone County Family YMCA from 10 am - 4 pm. Developed especially for teens (ages 11-13), this course teaches the skills needed to safely care for children infants through school age. This program also includes CPR and First Aid techniques. This program is designed to promote a safe environment not only for those who care for infants and children out side of their home, but also for their siblings inside their home. - Day of the Dead Skull Masks Workshop from 1 - 3 pm at Hussey Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 North 5th Street, Zionsville). Children and families will learn the importance of skulls and skeletons during a typical Day of the Dead Native American cultural celebration. Using a skull template, participants will add plaster gauze to create their mask. Once dry, the masks will be painted. Appropriate for ages 9 and up. Presented by the Indianapolis Art Center Staff. - Salem United Methodist Church Annual Chicken Noodle Supper from 4 to 7 pm at Salem United Methodist Church (Kissel Road (800E), just south of State Road 334 in Zionsville (look for the signs). An adult dinner is $7, children from 6-12 is $3, and children 5 and under are free. Dinner Includes: chicken & noodles or ham, choice of 3 sides (mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, salad), bread, and a beverage. All profit and donations go to Salem UMC programs and local charities. - Suds & Shake Dog Wash at Lebanon Memorial Park from noon to 2 pm sponsored by The Humane Society for Boone County. Owners of socialized dogs of all sizes are encouraged to bring their pets to the park and join in the fun of bathing, shaking, and getting acquainted with other dogs and "dog people" in the area. The event will benefit the newly established Humane Society for Boone County. Funds will be used to further current spay/neuter endeavors, as well as provide needed operating funds. "While we are not currently capable of placing surrendered animals, but we are working through a network of foster care programs to handle special needs," says president Guy Davis. Cost for the first-come-first-served event is a $15 donation per dog. Bring your towel and camera as dogs, owners, and volunteers "get down and dirty" to make the event an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Society memberships will also be available with individual memberships at $15 and household memberships at $25 per year (Humane Society for Boone County, PO Box 708. Lebanon, Indiana 46052). - Sugar Creek Historical Society Annual Meeting & Pitch-in Dinner in the Public Meeting Rooms of the Thorntown Public Library from 6:30-8:30 pm. Members, volunteers, guests, and those interested in the organization are encouraged to bring a covered dish and enjoy the evening. - New Date! YETI Halloween Costume Ball at Radio Radio in Indianapolis. More information to follow! YETI (Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc.) is a not-for-profit organization which built an orphanage in Nepal as one of its first projects. YETI also uses a portion of donated funds to help underprivileged youth in Central Indiana. A minimum of 10-15% of funds raised are used to help underprivileged youth in Indiana.

Pilates is a body conditioning exercise that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. Classes will be open to the public at no charge; however, each participant is encouraged to donate $10 to go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 100% of the proceeds we collect will go to this! Of course, participants may donate as much as they would like. Everyone who attends is encouraged to wear pink to class! - Film Screening: Crossing Over: How Roots Captured an Entire Nation at 6 pm in the The Heritage Center at the Lebanon Public Library. Join the Lebanon Public Library as they present a documentary on the 30th Anniversary of Alex Haley's Roots. Alex Haley's son, William Haley and LeVar Burton join the historians and creators of Roots in assessing the impact of the book and miniseries on culture and society over the past 30 years.
