- Nature only photography exhibit & competition featuring color and black & white images from 10 am to 4 pm at The Hideaway at Eagle Creek Park (located on the park s far-west side, north of 56th Street off Raceway Road). All images must reflect natural settings and situations, devoid of the hand of man. Most will be available for purchase, with 15 percent of proceeds benefiting the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Inc., a 2000-member not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of one of the nation's largest municipal parks. - 1st Annual Pete Paddock Memorial Golf Outing at Zionsville Golf Course. The format is a 4-team member scrambleup to 18 teams will start at 8:30 am and 18 teams will begin at 2 pm. Lunch will be served from noon until 1:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. Entry fee includes golf, cart, lunch and cash awards. The proceeds from the outing will go to the Charles "Pete" Paddock Scholarship which was established at the Community Foundation of Boone County in 2005. - This event scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006 has now been re-scheduled for Spring 2007! More info will be coming in the spring. "Hoof & Woof," Pet Day at the Park at Lebanon Memorial Park starting at 10 am. Save $1 by pre-registering your pet at the Park Office for only $5. Registration will be $6 the day of the event and will be accepted until 10:30 am. A pet parade will begin at 11 am and pets & their owners can strut their stuff around the park. Prizes will be awarded for many categories including: smallest pet, most intimidating pet, best trick & more! Voting will be done by viewers choice with voting cards costing 50 cents each, 3/$1 or 20/$5. Pet Products Super Store, 2nd Hand Pets and more will be attending with pets and products. - Flu Shot Clinic from 1 - 2 pm at Memory Hall Senior Apartments (315 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon). The cost is $25 for flu shot and $40 for pneumonia shot. Individuals who have Medicare Part B as their primary insurance may present their card and receive both shots at no charge. The Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) will submit all Medicare Part B claims to Medicare. If other insurance or HMO's are the primary carrier and Medicare is secondary, then payment will be expected at the time of service. VNS accepts cash or check only.

Magnus-Stinson was recently appointed to the position of U.S. District Court Magistrate. The speaker for October 19 at 7 pm is Jerry Arthur, President, Cook Pharmica, LLC. Arthur is a 31-year veteran of Eli Lilly & Co, currently building a cutting-edge biopharmaceutical company in Bloomington, Indiana. The speaker for October 26 at 7 pm is Lori Borgman, author of "I Was a Better Mother Before I Had Kids." Borgman's nationally syndicated column appears in the Sunday edition of the Indianapolis Star. - 10th Annual Conference of the Indiana Bluebird Society at the Cool Creek Nature Center, Carmel, IN from 10 am-3 pm. The conference is open to the public. Bernie Daniels, president of the North American Bluebird Society and Ohio Bluebird Society, will present a program on "The Ecology and Natural History of the Eastern Bluebird" and give and update on current activities of NABS. Dr. Wayne Davis, Professor Emeritus University of Kentucky and author of "Bluebirds and Their Survival," will talk about his work with Carolina Wrens. There will also be a discussion of bluebird trail experiences, and a silent auction of nature-related items to raise funds for Indiana Bluebird Society activities. Registration is $5 for adults, payable at the door or in advance. Lunch will be carry-in. Drinks and table service will be provided. - YETI Halloween Extravaganza featuring On The Brink at Radio Radio in fabulous and historic Fountain Square in Indianapolis (must be 21 to enter). Don your favorite costume and rock out with On The Brink and Greg Ziesmer, Gina Schultz and Mark Gibson. Proceeds benefit the Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc. (YETI).
- Sugar Creek Historical Society Annual Meeting at 6 pm in the Community Rooms of the Thorntown Public Library. The meeting is free and open to the public, and it is hoped that SCHS members and those with an interest in the Museum and its work will attend. A pitch-in meal will begin around 6 pm. SCHS will provide plates, plastic utensils & glasses, and beverages. Following the meal a brief meeting will be held to elect officers and board members, followed by a roundtable discussion of the financial future of the SCHS and the Thorntown Heritage Museum. Museum director Patricia Gillogly will provide an overview of funding sources, endowments, and other possible revenue sources. The show is about the slightly skewed world of Greater Tuna, Texas...where the Lions club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. It's 24 hours before Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas and all comic lunacy is about to break loose as the delightfully eccentric characters attempt to cope with seasonal traumas. The performance features: David Stern, Ashley Sims, Rosa McDaniel-King, Jim Lucas, Sarah Kennedy, Kae Campbell, Maew Corbin, Deb Woodings, Rae Myers, Laurie Atwater, Sherry Mason, and Karen Galvin.Tickets are $10 for adults $8 for students and seniors. Each participant will carve a full size “gunning” decoy from a rough block of basswood to a finished painted piece. Tools will be available, however each participant should bring any carving tools, including wood rasps. Advance registration of $150 is required for the class and registration deadline is Saturday, October 26. Class size is limited.
