  • Autism/Asperger’s Family Support Group - meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm at Centenary Methodist Church (910 Fordice Road, Lebanon).   • "Scrappin' Saturday" hosted by The Jackson Township Historical Society from 9 am to 5 pm at the Jamestown United Methodist Church (at the corner of High and Jefferson Streets in Jamestown). Plans include lots of door prizes, a 4 foot work area per person, a free "Make-It-and Take-It" for each person, and a "Creative Memories" consultant available for ideas and items to purchase. Bring a page or scrapbook to display and be entered in a special drawing. Pre-register before October 27 and receive 5 extra free door prize tickets. Please register by November 1 due to space limitations. Free bottled water, lemonade and snacks will be available throughout the day. Please bring your lunch or order out. A microwave and refrigeration is available.   • 5th Annual Spirit Run 5K Run/Walk starts at 9 am with the start/finish at University High School (2825 West 116th Street, Carmel, IN). The Spirit Run/Walk brings together people of all ages to remember and celebrate loved ones - Run. Live. Remember. Proceeds benefit University High School, IPS Elementary School #54, and Brooke's Place for Grieving Children. The course meanders through West Park and Coxhall Gardens. $25 registration fee if postmarked by October 27; $25 online registration fee until October 31; $30 registration fee at packet pick-up on November 2 (3 - 6 PM) and November 3 (7:30 - 8:45 AM).
  • Holiday Art Sampler from 6 to 8 pm with musical guests the Weeds of Eden at the B-Java Cafe and Gallery (56th & Lafayette Rd, Eagle Creek Plaza). The Sugar Creek Holiday Art Sampler will feature art of several local artists from the Sugar Creek Art Center: Betty Allen, Annette Bolton, Lynn Dugan, Lynn Medsker, Elaine Owens-Krawczyk and Ellen Reinke. Purchase specailty coffees, oils, digital arts, collages, and watercolor early for the holidays.   • Zionsville Band and Orchestra Parents (ZBOP) Gala 07 featuring "Preservation Hall Jazz Band" (direct from New Orleans) at the Zionsville Community High School Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 7 pm for the silent auction and the show starts at 8 pm. Proceeds benefit the ZCHS Instrumental Music Department. Patron ticketholders are invited to celebrate the ZBOP Gala's 5th anniversary at "The Big EaZy" Patron Party from 5-7pm at Grillmaster's Garden on Main Street in the village of Zionsville. After the performance, there will be an After Party "jumpin' jazz & a cuppa joe" in the high school cafeteria from 10pm - midnight for all ticket holders.   • Fall Meeting of the Boone County Bluebird Society at 7 pm at the Boone REMC Community Room (1207 Indianapolis Ave, Lebanon). They will discuss how to prepare bluebird boxes for winter, and ideas for putting out new boxes and bluebird trails. The public is invited. Bluebird nesting boxes and literature will be available.   • Parent Support Group for High Ability Children Meeting in the Lebanon Middle School Seminar Room at 6:30 pm. Carla Overdahl, Parent Network Advisor for the Indiana Association for the Gifted Board, will speak. Refreshments will be served and childcare is available. All parents with students identified as high ability in grades 2 through 12 in all of the Lebanon schools, teachers and administrators, or those interested in learning more about high ability programs are invited.   • Stokes PTO Fall Auction - 6 pm dinner and silent auction, and 7 pm live auction at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary (1005 Hendricks Drive Lebanon, IN 46052). Join us for a fun-filled evening with a great cause! The Stokes PTO is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization committed to enhancing the educational opportunities available to over 500 children that attend Hattie B. Stokes elementary. Money raised through the auction is used to provide classrooms with additional supplies, books and technology.

  • Community CPR & First Aid sponsored by Boone County Family YMCA from 9 am - noon. Save a Life! This program covers adult, child, and infant CPR and chocking emergencies. You learn the basics of CPR and First Aid until professional help arrives. Fee: $60.   • Day of the Dead Family Craft Session: Sculpey Bead Necklaces (A One Book, One Town event) at 1 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. Ages 8 - adult. Registration is required (online registration), and the class size limit is 25. Offered by the Indianapolis Art Center. Learn how to create multiple shaped beads, using Sculpey clay. The beads will be fired in class and added to a cord. Using symbols and photos associated with the Day of the Dead Native American cultural celebration, participants will be able to decorate bottlecaps which will also be added to the cord to create a dynamic multi-dimensional necklace.   • Veteran's Day Program at the Lebanon Public Library at 2 pm in the Heritage Center. Marion "Frank" Walker, one of few living survivors of the Battle of Iwo Jima on Mt. Suribachi in World War 2, will tell his personal story and how he survived the bloodiest battle in the history of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Walker was part of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Regiment, 5th Marine Division. Mt. Suribachi and Iwo Jima have become historical icons and yet today, many facts are unknown. Learn more of the flag raising on Mt. Suribachi that took place on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. The purpose of this presentation is to emphasize the historical value of informing the public of the horrible conditions that are caused by war. David Rodgers, Coordinator of "Boone County Honor Flight" will offer applications and give information on the services and opportunities with the local organization. Jamey Hickson, Heritage Librarian, will discuss the Veteran's History Project and how the library has partnered with U.S. Senator Richard Lugar in an effort to preserve oral histories of America's veterans.   • From Bach to Shearing - An Eclectic Pipe Organ Concert at 4 pm at St. Francis Episcopal Church (1525 Mulberry Street, Zionsville, IN). Move over, Mendelssohn, Mozart's gonna morph! You'll even hear the sounds of Shearing. Four organists will play an eclectic array of organ music: from the sublime J. S. Bach, the mystical Herbert Howells, to hairy Hampton and dreamy Durufle. The concert will feature the new Buzard Opus 33 II/24 pipe organ. Fingers belong to Sarah Williams, Travis Person, Tim Denton, and Lee Barlow. A reception will follow the concert.   • Join Boy Scout Troop 359 in Lebanon! Want to learn more about scouting? Meet at the First Baptist Church in Lebanon (207 East Washington St.) at 7pm. For boys in 6th through 12th grade. Boys who join Boy Scouts at this open house will get their very own Boy Scout handbook for free. Come experience the fun, as you learn skills in fire by friction, using a Dutch oven, and camping skills. Mark your calendar, and bring a friend. Regular scout meetings are Mondays from 7:00-8:30pm at First Baptist Church. Boys are welcome anytime!

  • PEACZ Meeting - June Fishback, Educational Psychologist and Consultant, will speak on the implementation of IEPs and answer questions at 7pm at the Zionsville Boys and Girls Club. June will provide practical suggestions for effective IEP implementation. June comes to us with an extensive background in the field of educational psychology in general and IEP implementation in particular. She has served as an educational psychologist in the greater Indianapolis area for decades, on the staff of Professional Psychological Services group along with Steve Couvillion and is currently on the national training staff supervising graduate students of the Applied Research Center with the Fischler School of Education and Human Services. She comes highly recommended to PEACZ for this topic by Steve Couvillion.
