  • Autism/Asperger’s Family Support Group - meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm at Centenary Methodist Church (910 Fordice Road, Lebanon).   • Free Try-It  Dance Class taught by professional dance instructor Abby Prather at 6:30pm AND at 7:15pm at the Lebanon Sports and Fitness Center. Class size is limited in order to insure quality personal instruction. Registration is required to sign up for the FREE TRY-IT CLASS or dance classes at Lebanon Sports and Fitness, please call 765.482.6992 or e-mail akincaid@lebanonfitness.net. Following the free session, classes will be offered as follows: 6-Class Sampler Class (Beginners) on Mondays, beginning March 5 at 7:30pm (ongoing); East Coast Swing (6 weeks) on Fridays, beginning, March 9 at 6:30pm; Salsa and Hustle (6 weeks)on Fridays, beginning, March 9 at 7 :30pm. Students need not have any experience for the beginner class, but should have completed the Beginner class prior to participating in the East Coast Swing or Salsa classes on Friday nights.

  • 2007 YETI Annual Dinner and Silent Auction at 6 pm at the National FFA Center located on the northwest side of Indianapolis (6060 FFA Drive, Indianapolis). YETI (Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc. ) is a not-for-profit organization that helps underprivileged children abroad and at home. YETI's main goal at this time is to complete construction of an orphanage in Nepal, and donate 10% - 15% of all funds to underprivileged children in Indiana. Tickets for the reception/silent auction are available for $30 per person ($17 of your ticket is tax-deductible).

  • Ruth Hooker, Field Operations Coordinator for Experience Works Senior Workforce Solutions, will be onsite at 1 pm at the Sugar Creek Art Center for an informal informational presentation. Experience works is a national, charitable, community-based organization that helps seniors get the training they need to find good jobs in their local communities. Created as Green Thumb in 1965 as a rural demonstration project that provided work for low-income farmers, it has grown over 40 years to be a leader in providing training, job placement, and community service for low-income older people in 30 states and Puerto Rico. Individual participants must be 55 years of age or older, income eligible, and willing to work an average of 20 hours per week. Those interested and currently receiving Social Security or Social Security Disability benefits should contact their caseworker to determine limits and impacts on their current draws.   • Cultural Triptych: Three Divergent Styles Come Together from 5-8 pm at Sugar Creek Art Center (127 S. Pearl Street, Thorntown). Enjoy Indian flute, and Norwegian treats, Native American Indian carvings, rosemaling, architectural kaleidoscopes of Thorntown, and oil paintings symbolizing current issues. Visit artists in their studios, and enjoy refreshments in a unique setting, an old garment factory. A beautiful hand-carved rosemaled spoon, and a vibrant digitally created giclee of that spoon will be silent auctioned during the month. Proceeds benefit the center. See the creations of Jan Boettcher, Lynn Dugan, and Craig White through out the month of March at Sugar Creek Art Center in Thorntown.

  • CPR for Health Care Providers will be offered by the Boone County Family YMCA from 9 to 11 am at the YMCA office at 1025 N. Jameson St., Lebanon. The fee for the class is $45. Participants will learn professional-level emergency cardiac care procedures, including cricoid pressure, bag valve mask use and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification. The class is recommended for any health care worker responsible for providing advanced life support. The classes are taught by a professional from the Health Emergency and Lifecare Program under the direction of the American Safety and Health Institute. All materials are provided.   • "Voodoo" Art Dolls: Embracing Culture, Tradition, and Nature from 10 am-1 pm at the Sugar Creek Art Center (27 S. Pearl St., Thorntown, Indiana). Kevin Friend, artist in residence for the newly created Learning Center sponsored by UCLA, in Logansport, Indiana, will continue his twice-monthly series, "Mixed Media Madness." The class will present this much-maligned art form in the context of history, creativity, and construction with natural materials. All materials for the class will be supplied and are included in the $20 registration fee. Registrations will be collected the day of the class.   • Boone County Family YMCA Volunteer Open House from 10am and 2pm at the YMCA office (1025 N Jameson St, Lebanon). There will be volunteer forms to fill out and hot coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. There will also be a drawing for four Indianapolis Indian tickets, 2 Indianapolis Zoo tickets, as well as other great prizes. The Boone County Family YMCA is looking for volunteers in the following areas: lead older adult exercise programs;lead, coach, assist or facilitate pre-school & youth sports programs (soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc); teach art classes (painting, drawing, pottery); assist in the ymca summer camp program, also counselor in training; office work (answer phones, take registrations, filing); instruct/teach youth and/or adults on a personal special skill area; other ideas that are relative to the YMCA mission.   • The Colts “World Championship Trophy Tour” comes to Lebanon! See the trophy at Lebanon Sports and Fitness (327 N. Lebanon Street) from 11am-1pm. The “World Championship Trophy Tour” will give fans the unique opportunity to touch and have pictures taken with the Vince Lombardi trophy. Other “World Championship Trophy Tour” elements include autograph signings with Colts cheerleaders, Blue the mascot and free Colts giveaways. The Indianapolis Colts will also partner with the United Way in each of the respective counties by allowing fans to purchase World Championship Trophy Tour photo frames. All proceeds from the photo frames sold will benefit the United Way in the local community. Dr. Stachler currently serves as Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Indiana University Medical Center. Susan Pieples is the current President of the Autism Society of Indiana (ASI), and a Board Member of the Central Indiana Chapter of the Autism Society of America (CIC-ASA). She is a member of the Autism Task Force at the Department of Education, the Children's Committee for NAMI Indiana, Co-Chair for the Consumer Involvement Committee of the Department of Mental Health Transformation Workgroup, and is under contract with the Department of Developmental Disabilities and Rehabilitation to write the Indiana Comprehensive State Plan for Services for Individuals of All Ages with Autism.   • Heritage Skills "Past to Present" Workshop Classes as well as Vendor Demonstrations and Make-It/Take-It Projects sponsored by the Boone County Extension Homemakers from 9 am to 4 pm in the Community Building at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds. Doors open to the public at 9 am. Class registration check-in begins at 8:30 am. For those not taking classes, admission will be $2 at the door. Registration and payment for classes is required by March 3, 2007. Sign up early! If the minimum class number is not met, the class will be cancelled and participants notified. Vendor booths are open throughout the day and will be set up in the Community Building. Many will be offering demonstrations and "Make-It-Take-It" projects at their booths.   • "Scrappin' Saturday" sponsored by the Jackson Township Historical Society from 9am- 5pm at the Jamestown United Methodist Church. Cost is $20. Plans include lots of door prizes, a 4-foot work area per person, a free "Make-It-and-Take-It", and a "Creative Memories" consultant available for ideas and items to purchase. Bring a page or book for display and be entered in a special drawing. Be one of the first 6 to enter and receive a special prize. Pre-register by March 16th and receive 5 extra door prize tickets.   • “The Clans of Ireland” Ancestor Workshop presented by the Lebanon Public Library from 10 am – Noon and 6-8 pm in the Ralph Stark Heritage Center. Jamey Hickson will host the program using an interactive history map of Ireland. Laptops will be available for participants to use to explore a wealth of online genealogical material.   • Gardenfest 2007 hosted by the Boone County Master Gardeners at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds from 9am until 3 pm. Free to the public. There will be speakers, booths of gardening information, equipment and plants.
