- 1st Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk through scenic Lebanon neighborhoods sponsored by Boone County EMS and Witham Health Services. The event starts at 9 am and the $15 entry fee benefits the Caring Center. After the run, join the sponsors for Prairie Creek Cattle Company chili, hot chocolate, fruit and snacks. - Boone County Family YMCA Winter Break Camp for Grades 1 through 8. The first three days, December 26, 27 and 28th will be for Super Sleuths to do some investigating. Your child will have an opportunity to do some real detective work by evaluating and processing a crime scene. They will fingerprint suspects, collect evidence and compare findings. On January 2, 3 and 4 the campers will create the Magic of Winter. Brrr!!!!! Grab your coat and gloves and join us for some fun activities at the North Pole. Come join Frosty and Rudolph for a walk in the winter wonderland. Let your child enjoy the cold, winter days while learning about the mysterious North Pole and having some fun with snowmen and snow fort building. Camp is from 7am to 6pm and is open to 6 year olds to 15 year olds. The fee for these six days is $80. If you wish to come to just three days, the fee is $40 or $15 a day. There is a sibling discount of $10. Winter Break Camp doesn’t stop there! We are also offering our Stage Stars Theater Camp on December 31, January 2, 3, 4 and 5. Your child can build acting skills while playing games! Campers will participate in dialogues to enhance character development and stage presence. Theater Camp is for Grades 1 to 8 and runs from 9:30am to noon for a fee of just $100. Call or stop by the YMCA office to register today! 1025 N Jameson St, Lebanon 765-482-5960. - Safe Sitter Course at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library from 10 am - 5 pm. For ages 11 - 13. Cost is $45. This course was developed to help babysitters know how to handle children's emergencies and teach them how to be safe and nurturing caregivers. Pre-registration is required with a check for $45 made payable to "Safe Sitter". Please bring a sack lunch. Class size is limited to 12. - Books over Coffee at the Library from noon until 1 pm at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. Take a break from your busy day and enjoy a leisurely chat with fellow book lovers. It's a great way to discover new authors and to find out what's new, what's good and what's not. Bring a bag lunch and book you have recently read and join us each month or whenever you can. Bring a friend! We will meet from Noon until 1 pm in the Lora Hussey Room on the first floor. This program covers adult, child, and infant CPR and chocking emergencies. You learn the basics of CPR and First Aid until professional help arrives. - Orkestra Projekt performs at St. Francis Episcopal Church (1525 Mulberry Street, Zionsville) on at 4:00 pm. Come see what Indianapolis Monthly has dubbed "The orchestra that rocks"! Orkestra Projekt is Indianapolis' leader in creative, quirky, and collaborative presentations of a broad range of music. Some audience members call it a well-kept secret, and others say that it's one of their favorite entertainment groups ever. And, still, it is hard to describe because Orkestra Projekt evolves with the times, the music, the musicians, and its audience. Led by violinist Jose Valencia, the orchestra celebrates its fifth season with the theme "Indulge". Come indulge your musical senses! - Wii Play Games from 3-5 pm in the Teen Area, on the 2nd Floor at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. Come play games in the Teen Area of the Library. We'll have the Wii set up, and our board games out, too. Game play will be informal, so feel free to hang out with your friends and have fun. For grades 6-12.
- Free Family Tax Forum from 6:30 - 7:30 pm hosted by Lebanon Public Library on the new tax law changes affecting families and IRS s recent announcement of a delay in processing tax returns claiming educational credits, energy credits, mortgage interest credits and 1040As claiming Child and Dependent Care expenses. Tax professionals from H&R Block will explain the various tax credits affected by the IRS announcement and measures taxpayers can take to avoid delays in processing of their refunds on these returns. Indiana s tax credit for families contributing to a College Savings Account and other new tax law changes will also be discussed. There is no charge to attend the forum. - Humane Society for Boone County Fostering and Adoption Meeting at 6:30 pm at the Lebanon Public Library in the Lower level meeting room. Humane Society for Boone County is recruiting individuals who can open their homes to rescued animals prior to their permanent adoption. Fostering can last from a few days to a few months.
