- Adults Learning Spanish sponsored by the Boone County Family YMCA from 6 - 7:30 pm. Fee for a Program Member is $65, and fee for a Potential Program Member is $75. Whether you are a young adult or young at heart, this class is for you especially if you want to broaden your horizons and embrace the sounds and language of another culture. Register and pay online at www.boonefamilyymca.org or stop by the Boone Family YMCA office at 1025 N. Jameson St. or call at 765-482-5960. Program is on Mondays, January 21 to February 25, 2008.
- Youth As Resources Grant Workshop from 6:30 - 8 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. 5th Street, Zionsville). Youth as Resources (YAR), a program of United Way of Central Indiana, is accepting grant applications now through March 17th, for community service projects designed and directed by Boone County youth groups. Up to $1,200 is available per grant. Youth groups that use creativity and energy to meet community needs may apply for funds to cover project expenses, materials, transportation and youth recognition. Youth groups must have an adult advisor and a not-for-profit sponsor, which may be a school, church, youth-serving or community agency. Youth groups that have not previously applied or attended a grant workshop must attend one to apply. For more information, please call or e-mail , 765-482-9014. - Boone County Bluebird Society Winter Meeting at 7 pm at the Thorntown Public Library (124 N. Market St., Thorntown, IN). Topics will include bluebird habitat, starting and monitoring a bluebird trail. Literature and nestboxes will be available. For more information call

- Woodcarvers Exhibit at Eagle Creek Parkworks created by the Midwest's top wood artisans will be showcased. The event runs 9 am to 5 pm at the park's Earth Discovery Center and is free with regular park admission ($4 per car on weekends). Artists will be on hand during the show to demonstrate their skills and talk with visitors about their work. Many of the carvings, sculptures and wood burning entries will be available for purchase. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from sales will benefit the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Eagle Creek Park. For additional information about any of the '08 shows, call the Eagle Creek Park Nature Center, 317/327.7148.

- Literary Tea--The Romance of Libraries with author, actress and librarian Madeleine Lefebvre from 2-4 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. She has gathered personal narratives from around the world; stories from the young and the old who share their tales of love: Romances that are happy, sad and bittersweet. - Salem United Methodist Church's ANNUAL CHILI SUPPER from 4 to 7 pm. "The Friendly Country Church" invites YOU to join us for warm hospitality and fellowship. Bring friends and family, or just bring yourself and make new friends! Children of all ages are especially encouraged to attend. $6 per person includes all-you-can-eat homemade CHILI, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, drinks, and homemade desserts! All proceeds from this year's supper will be used toward Salem's upcoming mission trip to Vancleave, MS, where the victims of Hurricane Katrina are still in great need of assistance. - Trinity Lutheran Youth Group's Third Annual Valentine's Dinner at The Shalom House (304 West Green Street, Lebanon) from 6 - 8 pm. Treat your special someone to a romantic Italian dinner. A $25 donation per couple includes salad, spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine alfredo and a chocolate kiss cheesecake. Complementary childcare will be provided at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2625 Elm Swamp Road during the event. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the 2008 TLC Youth Mission Trip and is financially supported through Thrivent Financial's "Care Abounds in Communities" program. - President's Day Insider's Tour of President Thomas Jefferson's Home & Gardens from 7-8:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. - Wii Play Games from 3-5 pm in the Teen Area, on the 2nd Floor at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville. Come play games in the Teen Area of the Library. We'll have the Wii set up, and our board games out, too. Game play will be informal, so feel free to hang out with your friends and have fun. For grades 6-12.
