Minutes Of The Lebanon Public Library Board Of Trustees
January 22, 2001
Members Present: Jane Myers, Huck Lewis, Ruth Lucas, Linda Jones, Sharon Wood, Marsha Truitt
Also attending: Kay Martin, Todd Meyers
Ron Morelock was unable to attend.
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p. m. by President Jane Myers. The Secretary’s
report was shared. Huck made the motion to approve and Linda gave the second. Ruth
shared the Treasurer’s report. She explained that we had more than expected in the
December appropriation, and Kay is finding things she needs for the Library.
The Long Range Planning Committee will meet in March or April. Huck spoke for the Building Committee. We have made an offer of $210, 000 for the Lawler Building, but have received no response. The court has approved the appraisers, and we should have numbers in by the end of March. We have sued Charlotte Frandsen and the Lebanon Reporter.
Kay explained part of her wish list, including the purchase of benches. The YA area upstairs will be updated. We are replacing staff computers and the upstairs padded computer chairs with wooden chairs. Chrissy’s Outreach Program is going to expand the Summer Reading Program by over 600 participants by including the six major daycares, Kincaid’s Summer Camp, the Boys and Girls Club, and Base’s Summer Camp.
Under new business, Huck told about the N2H2 Filtering for the computers. This company has the fewest technical problems of those checked. The purchase of a server and software will be encumbered from 2000 money. Betty Denger has sent money for the purchase of new flags.
Susan Lehmann is now working the circulation area in the evenings. Glenna will now be the Office Manager. Joyce wants less hours and responsibility. She will be the new page.
Jamey Hickson has been hired for the Heritage Room.
Sharon made the motion to approve the claims and Marsha gave the second.
The next Board meeting will be Monday, February 26, 2001.
